I am pleased to confirm that Adrienne Nieuwenhuis has been appointed as a Commissioner of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).
Ms Nieuwenhuis will bring valuable insight to the Commissioner role, with 30 years of experience in tertiary education and roles on various state and federal committees, including the Higher Education Standards Panel and the South Australian Skills Commission.
She will play an important role in the higher education sector’s steady recovery from COVID-19, ensuring students continue to receive a high-quality education from Australia’s world-class providers.
Working closely with existing Chief Commissioner Professor Peter Coaldrake AO and Commissioner Emeritus Professor Joan Cooper, Ms Nieuwenhuis will help oversee TEQSA’s strategic directions, governance, financial management and performance.
Importantly, she will continue TEQSA’s work to keep higher education providers accountable and maintain the reputation of Australia's higher education sector.
Ms Nieuwenhuis has been appointed as TEQSA Commissioner for a five-year term, commencing today.
