Jobs on offer at Townsville Jobs Fair
Job seekers in Townsville will be able to access a one-stop employment shop at the Morrison Government’s Jobs Fair to be held at the Entertainment and Convention Centre on Monday 15 November.
Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, said the jobs fair will promote a wide range of employment opportunities for job seekers looking to get into work.
‘The Morrison Government is committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, as we continue our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,’ Minister Robert said.
‘Creating jobs and boosting the skills of Australians to help them get back into work is at the heart of our Economic Recovery Plan.
‘Continuing the strong momentum we’ve seen in the local labour market, we want as many people from Townsville and surrounding areas as possible to upskill and reskill, and get work in their communities.’
There will be more than 800 jobs on offer at the fair, including in manufacturing, government and defence, health care and childcare and education.
Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, the Hon Luke Howarth MP, said certain sectors of the economy are experiencing a strong demand for workers, and Townsville is no exception.
‘We know there is a real need to fill vacancies across the Australian labour market, which is why the Townsville Jobs Fair is so important,’ Assistant Minister Howarth said.
‘We encourage job seekers to attend the Jobs Fair as they will hear first-hand from employers about what they look for when hiring. This fair will also give job seekers the opportunity to meet people and network.’
Federal Member for Herbert Phillip Thompson OAM said he hoped as many Townsville job seekers as possible would register for the event.
‘It’s the right time to be in the market for a job, and if you’re looking for one the Jobs Fair is a one stop shop,’ Mr Thompson said.
‘Whether it’s a first job after school you’re looking for, a career change, or even just help to clean up your resume, you definitely don’t want to miss this event.’
The Townsville Jobs Fair will be held at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre on Monday 15 November. It is free with sessions running from 10 am to 3 pm (AEST).
