The Coalition Government is delivering more support for mature age job seekers to help get them into jobs and long-term employment.
The Government has today announced the successful provider organisations that will help deliver the national rollout of the Career Transition Assistance program.
Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations, the Hon Kelly O’Dwyer MP, said from 1 July 2019, the program will deliver tailored support to Australians over 45, boosting their skills, strengthening their resilience and teaching new job-search techniques.
“A key priority of our Government is to help older Australians stay in the workforce as long as they choose. There is nothing more fundamental to a person’s overall wellbeing than a job,” Minister O’Dwyer said.
“While there are more Australians in work than ever before, there are still too many Australians without the security of work.”
“We are committed to delivering better outcomes for all job seekers as part of our plan for a stronger economy.”
A trial of the program has been running since July 2018 in five employment regions — Somerset in Queensland, Ballarat in Victoria, Central West in New South Wales, Adelaide South in South Australia, and Perth North in Western Australia.
The Government announced in the 2018–19 Budget that it would bring forward the national rollout of Career Transition Assistance to 1 July 2019 and reduce the eligibility age from 50 to 45 to help more Australians increase their job readiness.
Twenty-five organisations will help deliver the program around the country. A list of the successful organisations delivering Career Transition Assistance is available on the Department of Jobs website.
