Minister for Education, Julia Gillard is urging all interested parties to be part of setting the future direction of higher education in Australia.
The Rudd Government today welcomed the release of the discussion paper for theReview of Australian Higher Educationby Emeritus Professor Denise Bradley AC, Chair of the expert panel leading the review.
Higher education is fundamental to the Rudd Government's Education Revolution. The Rudd Government is working to ensure Australia's higher education system is world class and contributing to meeting the nation's long-term skills needs.
The discussion paper provides an opportunity for stakeholders from all sectors—business, industry, community groups, education and individuals — to comment on the role of higher education and how it can best meet the future needs of the Australian community and economy.
The Review being under taken by Professor Bradley (Chair), Mr Peter Noonan, Dr Helen Nugent AO and Mr Bill Scales AO is the first major review of higher education since 2002.
The Bradley Review will ensure that higher education is a key part of an innovative and productive Australia over the coming decade.
The discussion paper outlines a number of issues on which feedback is sought, including social inclusion, resourcing, the student experience and links with industry and the vocational education sector.
