The Government will sponsor a Business-School Connections roundtable to develop a practical strategy to foster more partnerships between schools and business.
The partnerships are about increasing opportunities for students and improving educational outcomes.
The Roundtable will consist of representatives of business and non-government organisations and will oversee the development of a strategy to ensure all secondary schools benefit from a business connection.
The Government will be inviting a small number of people from top business, community and the education sectors to share their expertise and to shape the strategy.
These will be people who have already demonstrated their commitment and expertise in supporting school communities.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader commitment to stronger schools-business linkages which is about creating a broad and supportive environment for students that involves business, community and parents in schooling.
It could include mentors for students, work experience, literacy and numeracy tutors, support for Principals and school leaders or business support for parent and school councils.
Business – School Connections is about widening the life choices for students, particularly those in disadvantaged schools.
The Government is committed to increasing links between schools and businesses, with the aims of harnessing business as a partner in education, increasing successful partnerships and improving educational outcomes.
