More than 200 jobs and training opportunities will be up for grabs today at the Australian Government Jobs and Skills Expo in Batemans Bay.
Minister for Employment Participation Kate Ellis said the Expo puts local job seekers in touch with employers, training organisations and industry representatives.
“This is a great chance for local job seekers and businesses across the region to come together and explore local job opportunities,” Ms Ellis said.
“I’m very excited with the variety of jobs and training opportunities available at the Expo. Among the many jobs on offer are some very diverse employment opportunities from tour guides to business managers and from apprentice bakers to child care workers.
“From apprentice mechanics and shop assistants to accounts managers and security guards – whoever you are, there are great job and training opportunities at the Batemans Bay Expo,” Ms Ellis said.
Local Member for Eden-Monaro Dr Mike Kelly called on job seekers throughout the Eurobodalla to take advantage of this great opportunity.
“We know that breaking into the workforce can be difficult. This Expo is a practical way of making the search for a job a bit easier,” Dr Kelly said.
“With 50 exhibitors at the Batemans Bay Jobs and Skills Expo, I encourage job seekers to come armed with their resumes to take advantage of this unique opportunity to do months worth of job searching in a single day.”
Minister Ellis said the Jobs and Skills Expos are achieving real results for job seekers.
“The Australian Government has delivered 67 Jobs and Skills Expos and we know that they work because we’ve now seen more than 24,400 Australians find employment at them and many thousands more sign up for training opportunities,” Ms Ellis said.
“We’re looking to build on the success of the program by continuing to hold Expos this year and beyond, and I can’t wait to see the results here in Batemans Bay.”
