Jobs will be a sure thing when the Federal Government’s popular Jobs and Skills Expo hits the racecourse at Morphettville next month.
Employment Participation Minister Kate Ellis announced the Expo was back by popular demand after a hugely successful one was held in June at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
The Member for Hindmarsh Steve Georganas said the successes of Jobs Expos were undeniable and he was thrilled one would be held on 14 August for job seekers in his community.
“Jobs and Skills Expos are a proven winning formula,” Mr Georganas said.
“They are one-of-a-kind in that they match jobs seekers up with employers in one marketplace.
“I expect hundreds of job seekers in my community to walk out of the Expo having found a job.”
Ms Ellis said the last Expo held in Adelaide on 12 June experienced high demand with 1,000 jobs on offer.
“The Expo saw 4,500 attendees, 100 exhibitors and nearly 500 people connected with employment and training opportunities on the day,” she said.
“More than 29,000 Australians have been connected with employment and training opportunities since the expos began,” Ms Ellis said.
“We know these expos are getting results.
Ms Ellis encouraged local job seekers, employers and training organisations to get behind the expo.
Mr Georganas encouraged local job seekers, employers and training organisations to get behind the expo which was part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to improve employment opportunities for local communities.
“This is an excellent opportunity for job seekers and people interested in undertaking further skills training to meet a range of employers and training providers,” he said.
“I recommend job seekers bring along copies of their résumé to leave with prospective employers.
“If you can’t be an exhibitor, your job vacancy or skills training opportunity can still be displayed at the expo on the day.”
The Morphettville Jobs and Skills Expo will have a jobs board listing current job opportunities and skills board where local skills training organisations can promote training opportunities available in the local area.
Exhibiting and entry is free.
The Morphettville Jobs and Skills Expo will be held at the Morphettville Racecourse, 79 Morphett Rd, Morphettville, from 10 am to 3pm, on Wednesday, 14 August.
