Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business

The Morrison Government is continuing the successful Youth Entrepreneurship Facilitators for a further two years, until 2022.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Facilitators promote entrepreneurial self-employment opportunities and provide practical assistance to support and encourage young people to start a new business.

The Facilitators have been operating since 2016, providing services in three locations across Australia – Cairns, the Hunter Valley (including Newcastle) and North East Tasmania.

The Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said that now more than ever, the Facilitators provide a valuable service that can offer young people an alternative career pathway.

“Facilitators do an important job promoting and encouraging entrepreneurship by increasing community awareness of self-employment opportunities and helping people reach their goals.

“They equip people with knowledge and understanding of what is needed to start your own business and can help develop or refine a business idea.”

“To date, more than 45,000 individuals have been supported through mentoring, workshops, presentations and expos. Of these, many have received comprehensive support and advice to transform their ideas into a businesses.

“Our facilitators are assisting Australia’s next generation of business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and job creators to learn the ropes of business and ultimately launch their ventures.

“As the economy begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now more important than ever before that we support Australia’s new and existing small business community to thrive and grow.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Facilitators will continue to service their regions until 30 June 2022. This will complement the additional Mature Age Entrepreneurship Facilitators to support a total of 23 locations across Australia over the next two years.
