More regional areas across Australia will benefit from the expansion of Harvest Trail Services into all major horticulture regions across the country.

Minister for Employment, Skills and Family Business, Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, said the expansion of the Harvest Trail service into 16 regions will ensure major horticulture areas have access to the workers they need.

“Employer demand for Harvest Labour Services is strong with more than 23,000 positions recorded by providers in 2019-2020,” Minister Cash said.

“Harvest Trail Services play a critical role ensuring Australian growers are able to access the labour supply they need to meet spikes in seasonal demand,” Minister Cash said.

“The Morrison Government is committed to ensuring job seekers in regional Australia can find work and expanding the Harvest Trail Service to 16 harvest areas will help this goal.”

The reforms will also increase employment outcomes for job seekers on income support by enhancing incentives for providers to place Australians looking for work into seasonal vacancies.

The Minister for Agriculture, the Hon David Littleproud said, it’s crucial we support our farmers and growers to get the workers they need to meet seasonal labour demand in harvest areas to keep the Australian agriculture sector thriving.”

“Maintaining domestically grown food supplies is essential to Australian families and to our economy,” Minister Littleproud said.

From July, providers delivering Harvest Trail Services will be able to claim 4 week, 12 week and 26 week outcomes for supporting Australian job seekers into harvest jobs. Providers will match more seasonal work vacancies with Australian job seekers to meet peaks in demand across more harvest locations in Australia.
